I've done a good job (again) of keeping quiet for the last 12 weeks...but I can finally let everyone know that Baby #2 is due Feb. 9th! We are excited (and nervous), and Amelia doesn't have a clue. She's not going to know what hit her!
9) Whenever Andy leaves in the morning, this is their new dialogue.
Andy: Bye, Amelia Amelia: Bye, Daddy. Andy: Love you Amelia: Love you, Daddy. See you next time. (sometimes it's See you Later - close enough)
Then Andy closes the door and Amelia looks at me and wipes her brow while saying: Ffffew - That was close!
It is hilarious! ******************************************** 8) Andy was helping Amelia get dressed this morning, and this was their short and sweet conversation:
Andy: Do you want to wear a blue shirt? Amelia: OK, I'll wear a blue shirt like Kai Lan. (Kai Lan is a character from one of her favorite cartoons - too funny).
I say short and sweet because there is usually a longer conversation about what to wear - she usually has to think long and hard about her shirt choice. Yay for making quicker decisions! ******************************************* 7) It started to rain and Amelia went to look out the back door. After about a minute her only comment was...
"Oh no! My chalk is ruined!" (referring to her chalk drawings on the concrete)
What a vocabulary! I love when she surprises us with new words. ******************************************* 6) We're in the middle of potty training and Amelia ASKED to go potty and made it there. So afterward I was giving her praise... Me: Amelia, I am SO proud of you! (hugs and kisses) Amelia: I'm so proud of you too, Mommy! (hugs and kisses)
Thanks, Amelia, I needed that! This is rough. ******************************************* 5) We drove by the store where we picked out Amelia's "Big Girl Underwear" today... Amelia: Mommy, let's go get some more big girl underwear! (very excited tone) Me: Well, we got some yesterday and we don't need anymore right now. Amelia: Oh, come on Mom. (VERY sarcastic tone this time)
It was hilarious - I'm sure this reenactment doesn't do it justice. Oh well. ******************************************* 4) Amelia was playing with my old phone and I told her it was out of batteries and wouldn't turn ON. Well, she figured out how to turn it on and hands it to me and says, "Here, Mommy. Good as new!" Where does she get these one-liners??? ******************************************* 3) Andy put Amelia to bed tonight and this is how their conversation ended...
Andy: When you wake up in the morning, we can have "Daddy's Hot Cereal" (she loves to share his breakfast) Amelia: Ummm....Can we have cupcakes? Andy: Yeah, we can have cupcakes. ******************************************* 2) Amelia was just spinning and spinning and spinning around the other day and she was bound to fall over and hit her head on the coffee table or the tile floor...so I said:
Me: Amelia, stop spinning. Silence Me: Amelia, Stop. Silence Me: STOP! Amelia: Oh. What did you say? (in the most innocent voice)
Yeah, like that was the first time she heard me! HA! ******************************************** 1) As we're leaving a play-date today... Me: Amelia, let's go have lunch. A: Mommy, want to have chicken nuggets at a restaurant. Me: Well, we're having lunch at home today. A: Oh, OK...I'll just have yogurt then. ********************************************
